Honda CBR150R, CBR250R to be replaced – Could launch CBR300R soon

Honda CBR150R and CBR250R replacement models are scheduled to be launched in India sometime in early 2018. Both these motorcycles were removed from company line-up just after new emission norms came into effect in April 2017. BS4 variants were expected to be launched before Diwali, but that has not happened as the company plans on not launching the Honda CBR150R and CBR250R again in India.

Instead, they have plans to deliver a much better product, than the old CBR150R and the CBR250R. This comes as a surprise as Honda has usually not been very keen on launching exciting products in this segment as they continue to focus on mass market products like the Activa, which gives them volumes.

 New CBR 150R

But, with demand growing in this segment, it is difficult for an OEM to ignore anymore. Just yesterday we had reported how Suzuki is planning on making India the manufacturing base for 250-400 cc motorcycles. The same could happen with Honda in the future. For now, talking about immediate steps, Honda CBR150R and CBR250R replacement model could be the new gen CBR150R and the CBR300.

Earlier this year, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) stated that Honda plans for India included four new products. Of these, two have already been launched in the form of the Africa Twin AT and Cliq scooter. The two other products will include a scooter and motorcycle. The models will sport fresh features and new BS IV compliant engines. New color options, body graphics and updated engines will also be the highlights.

Honda CBR300R gets same design elements as seen on the CBR1000R with full fairing, dual headlamps and new exhaust system. The 300R is powered by a 286cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine offering 30.4 bhp power and 27 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed transmission.

The new CBR150R comes with a refined engine that is much more powerful than the older CBR150R. It also gets LED headlamp unit, rear seat cowl and sporty accents along with a digital LCD instrument cluster, new exhaust system and re-positioned foot pegs.
