Two of the iconic fully faired motorcycles in the entry level segment, CBR 150R and CBR 250R from Honda Motorcycles are being sold in India for quite some time without receiving any major update. Just when we were expecting Honda to update both these motorcycles, as they have done in international markets, we see that both these motorcycles have gone missing from the official website of the company.
Well, it is not clear why the two have disappeared from the market. Speaking to Honda dealers, some revealed that the company has not started production of BS4 variants of these two bikes. It will be some weeks before production is resumed. Our sources reveal launch to take place by June / July 2017.
With sales of BS3 vehicles banned in India from 1st April, 2017, Honda can no longer sell BS3 stock as new to customers. Some dealers are still selling new BS3 bikes, but as second hand vehicles. As they had already registered them in their own name before the deadline, and are now selling the same BS3 vehicles to customers at heavy discounts.
Price of BSIII Honda CBR250R in Pune is INR 2.2 lakh, on-road for the ABS variant and the price of CBR150R BSIII is INR 1.43 lakh, on-road Pune. Some dealers are offering discounts of up to INR 50k on the on-road price. In addition to that, they are also offering Accessories, Extended warranty, AMC, 1 yr insurance, etc for free. This is being done so as to clear the old BS3 stock.
2015 Honda CBR 250RSpeaking about the engine, Honda CBR 150R is powered by the same 149cc liquid cooled engine offering 18.28 bhp peak power while the 250R retains its 249cc engine capable of producing 26.15 bhp power.
