Honda CBR250RR naked version rendered – Rivals Yamaha MT-03

A recent media report emerging from Indonesia suggests that a Honda CBR250RR based naked bike is under development. The sharply styled fully faired CBR250RR has been launched in Indonesia at a starting price of IDR 62.9m (INR 3.2 lakh).

Just like the fully faired CBR250RR, the naked variant will also be powered by a twin-cylinder 250 cc liquid-cooled engine. This engine is rated to deliver peak power of 28.5 kW (38,7PS) @ 12,500 rpm and peak torque of 23.3 Nm (2.4 kgf.m) @ 11,000 rpm. This makes it the most powerful 250cc engine in production today.

Both motorcycles will employ a 6-speed gearbox. Features like LED headlamps, fully digital instrument console are expected to be carried forward to the naked model as well. In terms of design, the upcoming quarter litre Honda street fighter is likely to adopt new bodywork without losing the aggressive character of the CBR250RR. The twins will lock horns with the Yamaha R3 and MT-03 siblings.

Honda’s compact sportsbike onslaught comes in time to take advantage of the global trend that is favouring quarter litre motorcycles. The new Honda twins will cater to both novice riders who are entering the world or performance bikes and experienced riders who are looking for an affordable yet capable set of wheels.
