Repair and/or part replacement will be done free of cost, even when the vehicle may no longer be covered under warranty
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has issued a recall for select CBR650R and CB1000 Hornet SP bikes. The recall campaign is being carried out as a precautionary measure, in line with Honda’s proactive customer-first approach. Let’s check out the details.
Honda CBR650R recall
As per the recall announcement, certain units of Honda CBR650R may be susceptible to a potential short circuit in the wiring of the turn signal system. CBR650R units manufactured between December 16, 2024 to May 4, 2025 could have this issue. During routine quality checks, it was found out that a wiring part in the turn signal system could come into contact with a metal component.
Over a period of time, vibrations could eventually lead to a situation where a short circuit may occur. In this case, some of the bike’s lights may not function properly or stop functioning altogether. Such outcomes may go against the regulatory requirements. If there is any problem with the turn signals and the rider is not aware of the same, it can also create a challenging situation for other road users.
Honda CBR650R gets power from a 649 cc 16 valve DOHC, inline 4, liquid-cooled engine. It generates 95 PS and 63 Nm of torque. Key features include track-inspired aggressive design, twin-spar frame, Honda E-Clutch and a refined intake system. Honda CBR650R is available at a starting price of Rs 11.16 lakh.

CB1000 Hornet SP recall
This bike has an entirely different issue for which the recall has been announced. Only specific units of the CB1000 Hornet SP are impacted. These are the ones manufactured between September 30, 2024 to August 22, 2025. It has been found that some units may have a higher rate of engine oil consumption. This is due to a specific part-related condition.
This problem can be easily fixed by checking the oil level and adding more oil if required. But if the oil level is not checked, the pressure may drop, resulting in issues with normal engine operation. The relevant repair and /or part replacement will be done by the dealer to permanently fix this issue.
CB1000 Hornet SP utilizes a 1000 cc, 16 valves, inline-four DOHC, liquid-cooled engine that generates 157 PS and 107 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Key features include a 5-inch TFT screen, Honda RoadSync, Showa forks, Ohlins rear shock absorber, Honda selectable torque control and wheelie control. CB1000 Hornet SP is available at a starting price of Rs 13.29 lakh.
Free repairs
In both cases, Honda will be providing the repairs and/or parts replacement completely free of cost. Even users whose bikes may no longer be covered under the warranty are eligible to get the fix free of cost. Users can check the manufacturing dates to know if their bikes are covered under the recall. Another option is to visit the recall page on Honda’s official website and check the status by entering the unique Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
For CBR650R and CB1000 Hornet SP bikes covered under this recall, users can approach their BigWing Topline dealer and fix a service appointment. The bike will be inspected and any issues found will be resolved.
