Honda CEO Takanobu Ito speaks about fuel cell and hybrid technology, cars, and motorcycles


CEO Takanobu Ito, President and CEO of Honda Motors, Japan’s major auto manufacturers delivered a speech during a press conference at the company headquarters in Tokyo on September 21, 2012. Ito stated that the company aims to sell over 6 million cars and 25 million two wheelers annually during the next five years. Extra attention will be paid to sub compact vehicles such as Fit, City and a new compact SUV model. Fit will be produced from the new plant in Mexico that will be pressed into service from spring of 2014.

A Fuel Cell electric model is also in the offing which will be launched in US, Japan and Europe from 2015 while Hybrid Technology is also something that Honda Motors will be concentrating on. Where Honda’s two wheeler business is concerned, they have always been one of the world’s major motorcycle manufacturers offering customers the very best of motorcycle models where performance, speed and other conveniences are concerned. In the coming five years, Honda Motors hopes to achieve targets of over 25 million units worldwide. In India, Honda will extend their motorcycle business by bringing in more competitive models in the 100cc segment which is more in demand in the country. A third plant will also become operational in India during the first half of 2013.

Where Indonesia and Vietnam are concerned, Honda will be introducing an attractive lineup of scooter models. In Brazil, Honda will be increasing its reach with increased sales of medium and large sized motorcycle models while also increasing sales of models such as CG125 and CG 150. From February 2013, Honda Motors will be commencing production of a new series of large sized motor cycles from the Kumamoto Factory with sales targeted for North America.
