Honda City, Amaze, Jazz helps Honda achieve 15 lakh sales in India

Since their first sale in January 1998, HCIL reached the first 5L sales milestone in March 2012 (14 years 3 months). The next 5 lakh sales (cumulative 10 lakh) goal was attained in October 2015 in a much shorter span of time (3 years 7 months). The current 5 lakh sales target takes the company to cumulative 15 lakhs in sales in just under 3 years, it’s quickest ever in 34 months.

No doubt then the City sedan’s contribution to this latest milestone is the greatest. The next volume contributors are the compact Amaze sedan and Jazz hatchback.

Honda’s product portfolio in India includes 8 models across segments. HCIL operates through a sales and distribution network of 341 facilities across 231 cities.

HCIL in India, Mr. Rajesh Goel, Sr Vice President & Director, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “Reaching 1.5 million milestone is a proud moment for all of us at Honda Cars India Limited. This has been a phenomenal journey and at this juncture, I would like to thank all our customers, dealer partners and our supplier chain for their immense support and belief in the Honda brand.

The success in the Indian market is strongly associated with Honda’s advanced design and technology, reliability, durability and fuel-efficiency that characterizes our DNA. I would like to reiterate our commitment to all our customers in India offering them the best of technology, product and services.”

For this fiscal, HCIL has gotten off to a strong start and has reported 79,599 units sold during April – Aug 2018. Cumulative growth stands at over 9 percent up from 73,012 units sold through April – August 2017.

Strong performer for Honda Cars India this year has been the new generation Amaze sedan. Ever since its launch, the Amaze has registered sales of 9,000 units every month, making it the best selling Honda car today. Sales of Amaze are higher than cumulative sales of all other Honda cars on sale in India.
