Last month, March 2015 saw Honda Cars India register their best sales ever 22,696 units. This also resulted in them replacing Mahindra as India’s third largest passenger car maker for the month.
For April 2015, the company has registered sales of 13,489 units, including 853 units that were exported. The 12,636 units sold in the domestic market, is a 14% increase, as compared to the same period last year; whereas exports have increased by more than 100% as in April 2014 the company had exported 402 units.
Breaking their sales figure down to each model, reveals that Honda City is once again their best selling car. Ever since Honda launched the new City in January 2014, there have been very few months in which the City has not been a best seller. For April 2015, sales of City stood at 8,203 units, Amaze sales stood at 2,862 units, Brio sales stood at 827 units, Mobilio sales at 689 units and CR-V sales at 55 units.
Honda Cars India is currently producing cars at two of their plants, one each in Greater Noida and Tapukara – with both having capacity to produce 10,000 units monthly. Tapukara being their new plant, is yet to reach 100% production capacity. Once it reaches full capacity, waiting periods of Honda cars like Mobilio and City are expected to reduce drastically.
Apart from this, Honda has also begun production of new Jazz hatchback at their plant. New Honda Jazz will be launched in India by June 2015, where it will compete with the likes of Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20.
