Honda Civic hatchback prototype, Civic Prestige – 2016 Indonesia Auto Show (GIIAS)

Both Civics are powered by Honda’s latest 1.5-litre turbocharged i-VTEC petrol engine.

The Honda Civic hatchback prototype and new Civic Prestige sedan variant are in attendance at 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).

The latest gen Civic turbocharged sedan has been on sale in Indonesia since April this year. The new Civic Prestige is a sportier variant which targets young audience.

The Honda Civic Prestige features leather seats and powered driver seat.

The latest variant differentiates itself from regular Civic sedan by means of mild aesthetic enhancements like front and rear bumper extensions, side skirts, spoiler, dual exhaust with chrome finishers and 17-inch alloy wheels. The range-topping Prestige also gets LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights, fog lights, leather seats, powered driver seat, remote engine start, 7-inch touchscreen and so on.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged i-VTEC petrol engine which is mated to a CVT to pump out 173 PS and 220 Nm of torque. The sedan also boasts of paddle shifters.

The production version of the hatchback is set to be launched in Indonesia in first half of 2017.

The Honda Civic Hatchback prototype, a near-production concept, made its Asian debut at the GIIAS. The production model is set to enter Indonesia in the first half of 2017.

The hatchback will be positioned as a sportier alternative to the sedan. The same 173 PS 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine will be under the hatchback’s hood. Equipment level will also be borrowed from the sedan sibling.
