Honda Civic off to an impressive start – Over 2,400 bookings confirmed

10th Gen Honda Civic was launched earlier this month in India on 7th March 2019. By the end of March, the company had already received over 2,400 bookings for the Civic, reveals Car and Bike. This is more than 4 times the total sales registered by the segment, in spite of Civic being the most expensive car in the segment. Apart from Civic, the segment includes Toyota Corolla, Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra. Together, these cars generate about 500 unit sales every month.

New Honda Civic comes back into the country after a gap of 7 years, and it still has fans here. Honda Civic is a popular brand in India. It has a good amount of fan following, which is one of the reason behind the car getting such high booking numbers in such a short span of time.

Honda Civic is produced at the company’s production plant in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It is from this plant that the company produces the Civic, CR-V and City while the Honda Amaze is produced at the Honda plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan.

2019 Honda Civic comes in with an all new design and updated features. It sports a chrome grille, LED headlamps, 17” dual tone alloy wheels and a fastback roofline. Interiors are seen with 8 way adjustable driver seat, dual zone climate control, an electric sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a digital instrument cluster. It also receives push button start/stop system, 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, stability control, agile handling assist, electric parking brake and hill start assist.

The 10th gen Honda Civic is priced at Rs.17.7 lakhs to Rs.22.3 lakhs, ex-sh, Delhi. It comes in with five trims of which three are petrol variants and two are diesel offerings. The three petrol variants – V, VX and ZX are priced at Rs.17.69 lakh, Rs 19.19 lakh and Rs 20.99 lakh respectively, while the VX MT diesel is priced at Rs 20.49 lakh along with the fully loaded ZX MT variant priced at Rs 22.29 lakh.

This is the first time that Honda has launched the Civic with a diesel engine. The 1.8 liter petrol engine offers 140 bhp power and174 Nm torque mated to a CVT while the 1.6 liter diesel engine generates 118bhp power and 300 Nm torque and gets mated to a 6 speed manual.
