While the Jeep Cherokee XJ makeover is all custom, mechanicals of Damd WR-V Reverb remain the same as a stock Honda Elevate (WR-V)
Indian automotive market has been gravitating towards SUVs for a very long time. Seeing this trend, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) formulated a new SUV for our market instead of bringing one of their global SUVs. Called Elevate, Honda has launched it in India for a starting price of Rs 11.69 lakh (Ex-sh).
After launching Elevate in India, Honda took this made-in-India compact SUV to global markets and launched it in Japan as WR-V. Now, renowned car modifier, Damd, is set to launch a modified version of Honda Elevate (WR-V). Called Damd WR-V Reverb, this retro take on Elevate SUV will be showcased at 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.
Honda Elevate Modified By Damd
Ever since it was launched, Honda Elevate had immense potential for the brand. This compact SUV has seen good reception in Japan too, where it is launched as WR-V. If we look at the company’s exports, Honda has shipped 4,155 units of Elevate (WR-V) and featured in the top 10 exported cars from India in October 2024.
Damd modifies this made-in-India Honda Elevate (WR-V) and to be showcased at 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon. If you aren’t familiar with Damd’s works, this aftermarket car modifier has a retro taste, reflected in their results. Alongside Damd WR-V Reverb, Sienta Stuart, N-Box Custom Rodney and Taft Lucky will also be showcased at 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.
Sticking with Damd WR-V Reverb, the company has gone full regalia with nostalgia for 90s Jeep Cherokee. Starting with the little things, we can see decals on the side lending a wood panelling aesthetic that American SUVs and Minivans had in the past. These wood panelling decals act as contrasting elements on the base paint.
Also, we can see new off-road steelies (steel wheels) finished in Black. These steelies are wrapped with BFGoodrich All-Terrain tyres for a macho appeal. The stock bonnet of Honda Elevate is modified to look a lot more muscular, like the one seen on 90s Jeep Cherokee XJ SUV.
All-New Cherokee XJ Look
At the front, Damd WR-V Reverb gets an all-new and all-custom fascia inspired by Jeep Cherokee XJ from the 90s. There is a retro-looking 6-slat grill like a Jeep along with square headlights with LED DRL strip below them that also double as turn indicators. The rugged-looking bumper gets Silver skid plates and fog lamps too.
Under the custom bonnet of this Honda Elevate modified by Damd is a stock 1.5L 4-cylinder NA Petrol i-VTEC engine that is capable of generating 120 bhp of peak power and is mated to a 7-step CVT gearbox. While Damd WR-V Reverb is a custom concept to be showcased at 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, there is a good probability of it being launched in Japan in limited numbers.
