Honda HRV Sport Edition gets all black treatment – Suzuki Vitara rival

Honda has revealed that the HRV SUV will get updated for 2019 model year in Europe. New styling of the Europe spec model gets detailed while engine specifications are also revealed

The new Honda HRV Sport will be powered by a 1.5 liter VTEC turbocharged engine that also powers the Honda Civic. The engine makes 180 hp power at 5,500 rpm and 240 Nm torque at 1,900-5,000 rpm and mated to a 6 speed transmission while continuous variant transmission is also on offer.

In Malaysia, the Honda HRV is powered by a 1.8 liter naturally aspirated, 4 cylinder engine offering 142 PS power and 172 Nm torque. The HRV Sport also receives ‘Performance Damper’ technology and comes in with adaptive roll bars in the front and rear.

Honda HRV Sport gets sportier dampers, variable ratio electric power steering system while the standard HRV gets mechanical steering. Its sportier exterior updates include high gloss black honeycomb grille with chrome accents, sporty accents on side skirts, rear bumper and fenders, blackened door mirrors, fog lamp surrounds and new 18” alloy wheels. Interiors also get sportier with new front seats in a red and black color scheme and a matching black headliner.

Honda HRV Sport is aimed at buyers who want a sportier driving experience. It is slated to enter production in December 2018 with deliveries to commence from early 2019.

New Honda HRV is expected to launch in India by the end of 2019; to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta and upcoming Tata Harrier. It will borrow the same engine lineup as seen on the current Honda City. This 1.5 liter engine offers 118 PS power. There would also be a 1.5 liter diesel engine offering 100 PS power and 200 Nm torque mated to a manual and automatic transmission. Prices are expected to range between Rs 9-13 lakhs.
