Honda Jazz launch nears as company releases new teaser video

First launched in Japan back in 2013, the launch of Honda Jazz has been delayed in India. Reason being, launch of successful cars like new Amaze, City sedan, and Mobilio MPV; all of them eating into Honda’s production capacity due to high demand.

Compared to the Jazz showcased at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, this one features circular fog lights, the one at Auto Expo had no fog lights.

But, now with their second manufacturing plant in Tapukara pumping out cars at the same pace as their plant in Greater Noida, Honda Cars India is all set to launch much awaited Jazz premium hatchback. The teaser above is the proof that Honda Jazz launch in India is very near.

To be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options, new Honda Jazz will rival Hyundai Elite i20 and Volkswagen Polo in the premium hatchback segment. It will be priced in the Rs 5.5 to 8 lakh range. Petrol engine of new Honda Jazz will be in the form of 1.2l iVTEC, the same which is seen on Brio and Amaze petrol variants, while diesel will Honda’s new 1.5l iDTEC.

Mated to a five speed manual transmission, the petrol engine delivers 88 PS and 109 Nm torque. This engine will also come mated to a CVT gearbox. The diesel mill delivers 100 PS and 200 Nm, and is expected to be more in demand of all three variants.

From the video teaser, we can confirm that the India-spec Jazz will get electric folding ORVM with turn indicators, body coloured door handles, keyless entry, stylish new 5×2 spoke alloys, roof spoiler with stop light, chrome grille in the front, steering mounted controls, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, and multimedia navigation system.
