Honda Mobile Service Van is a one stop shop that’s doubles up as a dealership and service outlet in a mobile platform intended to reach out to prospective and existing customers in rural areas in a cost effective manner.
The Mobile Service Van includes a two wheeler display area, seating arrangement, and a LED display. Test rides will be accommodated. A public address system will create customer awareness through regular announcements. With 2 service bays in use, Honda will be able to offer quality service and genuine spare parts. The van is also being used as a platform to train local service technicians in rural regions.
Honda looks to have 11 mobile service vans by 2014 end. Keita Muramatsu, CEO & President, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India spoke about Honda’s network expansion in the Indian hinterlands. About 70% of about 1,000 touch-points that Honda plans to add in 2014 will be in rural areas.
Honda aims to take its sales and service network to 3800 by 2014 end. To realise its rural focus, Honda has a team of 15 who are closely overseeing strategy, communication and implementation at this front.
