Update: Honda Cars India halted dealer dispatch of Brio hatchback, Mobilio MPV and CR-V SUV momentarily due to unforeseen minor damage on them. Dispatches were renewed in quick time, and production is ongoing as per regular schedule.
Around 4,000 cars parked in stockyard received spots of paint on them, damaging the original look. The spots are random and are seen on plastic parts like head lamp; tail lamps, chrome grille and windshield, apart from outer body (mostly only the rooftop as rest of panels would have been covered with white decal).
The paint was transferred from a nearby factory that is under construction. The factory is being set up by another company, to supply parts to Korean electronics manufacturers. While painting their buildings / structures, paint was airborne, reaching the expansive parking lot of Honda Cars India.
Although the spots are minor, they are visible to the naked eye. Honda is currently seeking expert advice to find an effective solution. For affected cars to be dispatched to dealers, they must at the least be repainted completely and all affected parts must be replaced, as any attempt of repairing or mitigation of spots seems to be impractical.
There is no serious delay in dispatches in regards to next lot of Honda Mobilio, Brio or CR-V delivery.
