The company sold a total of 120,639 motorcycles registering a growth of 17% during June 2013 as against 1,03,195 units sold in June 2012. Taking sales of scooters into account, HMSI sold 131,475 scooters in June 2013 up from 1,23,734 units sold in June 2012, thereby registering a 6% growth.
Production capacity has been augmented to meet this increased demand and the company has commenced production operations from its 3rd plant in Narsapura, Karnataka. It is from this new plant that the company will be manufacturing Dream Yuga and Activa I models. Two new models were launched which include the Dream Yuga and Honda CBR 250R besides the recently launched CB Trigger and Dream Neo all of which have found immediate favor with customers which can be judged with a long waiting list of 95,000 buyers.
“While Indian 2W industry witnessed a de-growth of 5%, Honda continues to lead on back of strong customer demand and has clocked 11% growth in June 2013. With the start of 3rd plant in mid June, we are working with new speed to satisfy our 95,000 waiting customers faster with quality products and services near them.
