Honda production reaches new heights in 2012 post 2011 devastation

2011 earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan caused large scale damage and wreckage to Honda production. Production was at its lowest while sales continued to drag profits down. However ever since the start of this year, Honda has been seeing increased production, sales and profits over last year’s figures. During the month of May 2012, production was at 357,619 units, an increase of 176% over production in May 2011.

Taking census at the Japanese plant into account, output increased 113.1% in May 2012 over May 2011 when the company produced only 74,043 units. This is the fourth month in a row that Honda has recorded increased production marking the end of their dismal picture during the past year.

From the period January to May 2012 the company has produced 495,196 units in Japan while 1,297,856 units in its home market. Sales have also increased in Japan to the tune of 100% during the month of May 2012 alone while the company saw an increase of 76.7% since the start of this year.
