Honda has announced sale of its hyperbike which is engineered to be the closest road-legal thing possible to its championship winning Moto GP race bike. Watch Marc Marquez giving it a go on a race track.

Honda RC213V-S high performance motorcycle is a collectors item inspired by RC213V Moto GP machine which won consecutive championships in 2013 and 2014 in the hands of young Marc Marquez. Order books for this highly exclusive limited production model will open on July 13.

A race winning bike needs to be the world’s fastest one and by Honda’s definition, fastest bike is not the one with highest power but the one which is easiest to maneuver. So with this in mind, RC213V-S production model is engineered to offer razor sharp handling rather than overwhelming power.

The road legal hypberbike is powered by a 1.0-litre V-4 engine which is tuned to dish out 159 PS at 11,000 rpm and 102 Nm of torque at 10,500 rpm. Rather than Moto GP bike’s pneumatic valves, RC213V-S uses regular coil spring valves. The seamless shift transmission is also replaced with a conventional unit. Buyers in Europe and Japan can also opt for a closed-course tuning kit which pumps up power to 215 PS!

Honda has also added several legally mandated items to make the RC213V-S suitable for street such as headlamp, taillight, mirrors, license plates, indicators, speedometer, muffler, horn, smart key, self starter, side stand, etc. Additional elements have increased the weight to 170 kg (dry) compared to the racing machine’s weight of just 158 kg.
