Honda Activa, CB Shine, Dio lead – HMSI Aug 2019 sales break up

Auto sales for August 2019 have been deficient for the most part and Honda two wheelers is no different. At 26.26 percent sales decline, sales volume has fallen below 5 lakh units at 4,25,664 units, down from 5,77,249 units sold a year earlier. MoM sales decline is pegged at 6.45 percent, down from 4,55,036 units sold the month earlier.

Honda Activa, the brand’s bestseller by miles has reported sales decline of 24.63%. Though this isn’t the steepest decline percent across Honda bikes, taking into account high base sales, the ebb is sharp. Sales is down to 2,34,279 units from 3,10,851 units sold in August 2018. MoM sales have fallen 3.83 percent, down from 2,43,604 units sold in July 2018. Honda Activa BSVI has been introduced this month.

CB Shine sales have fallen below the 1 lakh mark owing to 19.63 percent sales decline, down to 87,434 units from 1,08,790 units sold in August 2018. MoM sales dipped 7.53 percent, down from 94,559 units sold the month prior.

Honda Dio sales fell marginally at 3.44 percent, down to 37,726 units from 39,068 units sold in Aug ’18. MoM sales is stable following .28 percent uptick from 37,622 units sold in July of 2019.

CB Unicorn sales are reported at 23,440 units. Down 8.58 percent, down from 25,639 units sold a year earlier. MoM sales fell 17.03 percent, down from 28,250 units sold in July 2019.

Honda Dreamsales is literally the story of a broken dream with sales dropping 50 percent. Sales volume halved at 15,864, down from 31,772 units. MoM sales is down 13.41 percent from 18,321 units sold the month earlier.

The next 5 bikes on the list have collectively sold about 27k odd bikes, sales for almost all were less than half. Livo sales fell to less than 10k units. At 46.17 percent, sales reduced to 9,977 units from 18,535 units sold in August 2018. MoM sales dipped 25.22 percent, down from 13,341 units.

Grazia sales is down to 7,356 units, down 52.16 percent from 15,375 units sold in August 2018. MoM sales fell 17.26 percent from 8,890 units sold. Honda Aviator sales has contracted to 3,714 units, down 51.77 percent from 7,701 units sold in August 2018. MoM sales weakened by 16.58 percent, down from 4,452 units.

Next on is a hornet’s nest situation given that CB Hornet 160R sales volume is down to 3,186 units. Sales fell from 7,221 units at 55.88 percent sales decline. MoM sales grew 6.06 percent, up from 3,004 units sold in July 2019.

X Blade sales have lost all sharpness at 2,550 units sold. Sales fell 71.30 units, down from 8,884 units sold a year earlier. MoM sales declined 10.78 percent from 2,858 units a month earlier.

New kid on the block, CB300R sales is reported at 74 units. 52 units of CBR 250R were sold down 461 units sold in August 2018. MoM sales is up 8.33 percent from 63 units sold in July 2019. 4 units of CBR 650 were sold. Africa Twin, and GL 1800 sold 3 a piece. A single unit of Cliq and CBR 1000RR were sold. Navi, CB Unicorn 160, and CB 1000R sales are nil.
