Honda Two wheeler sales break up Dec 2019 – Activa, CB Shine lead

Honda two-wheelers wouldn’t be too thrilled about performance in December 2019. It’s best forgotten considering the company lost a fourth of its sales volume.

For the month, sales is reported at 2,30,197 units, down from 3,08,096 units sold in December 2018. That’s volume decline of 25.28 percent with sales having fallen by 77,899 units. MoM sales is even poorer at 38.33 percent. Sales the month earlier is reported at 3,73,281, meaning volumes fell by 1,43,084 units.

As usual, Honda Activa remains the company’s frontrunner. Having said that, even the top selling scooter couldn’t pierce through the stubborn wall of sales contraction. Honda Activa scooter sales fell significantly at 24.37 percent. Sales is down to 1,31,899 units, down from 1,74,393 units from 1,74,393 units. That’s volume contraction of 24.37 percent. MoM sales fell 37.83 percent down from 2,12,164 units. Volumes fell by a whopping 80,265 units.

Of course, this isn’t altogether to be attributed to current sales slowdown. Considering Honda launched its BSVI Activa in mid January, the company would have been consciously adjusting processes to suit the development. All new Honda Activa 6G BS6 scooter is available at a price of Rs 63,912, ex-sh. This is an increase of about Rs 8k on the price tag Activa 5G commanded. The country’s foremost scooter has now been on road for more than twenty years.

Honda CB Shine sales was in the green at 51,066 units sold. Sales grew 3.23 percent, up from 49,468 units sold the year earlier. MoM sales fell 32.04 units, down from 75,144 units. That’s about a third lost in volumes, lower by 24,078 units. Honda Dio scooter sales fell 34.23 percent, down to 20,516 units, down from 31,195 units. MoM sales fell by more than half. Down 51.71 percent from 42,481 units. Honda Dream sells fell 35.03 percent, down to 7,755 units from 11,936 units sold a year earlier. MoM sales decline was less drastic at 11.35 percent, down from 8,748 units.

Honda Livo sales is stable at 7,209 units. December 2018 sales is reported at 7,257 units. MoM sales fell 42.50 percent from 12,537 units. CB Unicorn sales fell big time. Down 78.22 percent, down to 4,340 units from 19,925 units. MoM sales fell 43.43 percent, down from 7,672 units. Honda Grazia scooter sales is reported at 3,113 units, down by more than half at 52.60 percent from 6,568 units sold a year earlier. MoM sales fell by 61.88 percent, down from 8,167 units.

Honda CB Hornet 160R sales is down a by a quarter. Sales decline is reported at 25.19 percent, down to 1,755 units from 2,346 units. MoM sales fell by almost a third, down from 2,578 units. X Blade sales fell to 1,499 units. Sales decline is reported at 14.44 percent, down from 1,752 units. MoM sales decline was steeper at 19.93 percent, down from 1,872 units. Aviator sales declined by more than half at 64.08 percent. Sales is down to 1,034 units from 2,879 units. As it stands, Honda reported sales decline for all its mass market bikes MoM. Honda CB300R sales is reported at 9 units, and CBR1000 found 2 buyers. Africa Twin, CB250R, GL1800, CBR650, Navi and Cliq found no takers.
