For the first time, Honda two wheeler sales during the Navratri – Dusshera exceeded 3 lakhs units. The Japanese automaker registered sales of 3.1 lakhs units during the aforementioned period, registering its highest ever single day sales of 90,000 units in the process (on the day of Dusshera).
The sales performance during this 10 day festive period represents a YoY growth of 19%. In terms of numbers, HMSI witnessed increase in sales of around 50,000 units during this period. The sales boost on the day of Dusshera was driven predominantly by the western part of the country, says the company.
The brand’s automatic scooter portfolio registered an impressive growth of 35% in those 10 days. According to a statement from HMSI, both Activa and CB Shine emerged as the top buys in the Navratri – Dusshera period. The Dream Yuga commuter posted a strong performance in the rural regions. The company also says that the newly launched Livo 110 cc premium commuter has received an unprecedented response from the customers, crossing 5-figure sales mark in the first 10 days of its introduction.
Mr. Yadvinder S. Guleria, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., said that the company is prepared to cater to the additional demand during the festive season. He was also hopeful that the next month (Diwali month) would also be very positive for the brand.
