Mugen has left the Vezel’s hybrid powertrain untouched.

The spruced up Honda Vezel Mugen compact crossover has been unveiled ahead of its debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2016. In international markets, the Vezel is being marketed as the HR-V.

Despite being worked upon by Honda’s Mugen performance division, the enhancements to the JDM Vezel is purely cosmetic. Changes to the exterior come in the form of a redesigned front grille with massive chrome bar, a new bumper with more accentuated elements, silver skid plate and a sporty skirt, interesting alloy wheel design, Mugen branded window visors, side skirts, aggressive dual-tone roof-mounted rear spoiler and a new rear bumper complete with silver diffuser and twin chrome exhaust tips.

The Vezel Modulo is painted in exclusive Premium Crystal Red Metallic color. Interior images are not released yet but expect the cabin to feature extensive enhancements like the exterior.

The JDM Vezel is powered by a hybrid powertrain which combines an electric motor and a 1.5-litre petrol mill. Mated to the 7-speed i-DCD dual-clutch automatic transmission, the crossover makes 132 PS and can be had either in FWD or all-wheel drive configuration.

The Honda Vezel Mugen is expected to go on sale in Japan shortly after its debut. The HR-V Mugen version is expected to be introduced soon for the international markets. As far as India is concerned, the responsibility of addressing the fast growing compact crossover segment has been given to the 7-seat Honda BR-V which is slated to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 next month.
