With the launch of Amaze, Honda gave India their first diesel powered car. The engine is revolutionary as it is the most powerful and most efficient in the segment. It delivers 100 PS and 200 Nm, while delivering a mileage of 25.8 kmpl, making Amaze diesel the most efficient car in India.
Before the launch of Amaze, Honda India car sales averaged about 5,000 units, in spite of production capacity of 10,000 cars per month. But after the launch of Amaze, there has been a surge in sales. They are now utilizing their plant in Greater Noida at full capacity and will also increase production by November 2013 when they start third shift to clear pending deliveries faster. Honda will also start car production at their Rajasthan plant from next year, which will take their total output to 20,000 units per month.
