The Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 concept has been unveiled at the ongoing EICMA 2015 in Milan, Italy. The concept follows the smaller Vitpilen 401 which was showcased at the motorcycle show’s previous edition. Vitpilen in Swedish means ‘White Arrow’.
The KTM-owned Swedish motorcycle brand which is popular for its enduro and supermoto class motorcycles says that the Vitplien 701 concept signals the company’s re-entry into the street motorcycle segment. Designed to prioritize simplicity and thrill of riding, the concept motorcycle has a distinct styling.
A circular LED headlight, a unique fuel tank with badge-carrying ridge, cantilevered rear monocoque which also houses the air box, an upward sloping exhaust canister, black cycle parts, a low-set handlebar and LED taillights sum up what is an unconventional design.
Husqvarna didn’t explicitly state the whereabouts of the engine but has confirmed that it will be a single-cylinder 4-stroke motor. The name 701 strongly indicates that the concept borrows the 701 Supermoto’s 690 cc motor which in turn is borrowed from the KTM Duke 690.
Husqvarna has announced that the Vitpilen 401 will hit the showrooms soon and the Vitpilen 701 would be ready for sale in the spring of 2017. The company also announced that a new Vitpilen 125 model will accompany the 401!
