Spied on test in Europe, South Korea, and in India over the last few months, Hyundai’s all new compact SUV based on the Carlino concept, is all set for launch. The sub 4 meter SUV will be a rival to Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon and upcoming Mahindra XUV300 in India.
Demand for compact SUVs is not only increasing in India, but across the globe. Hyundai will launch Carlino Styx as a global SUV. Though the product is expected to register most sales in India, it will not be making its debut here.
Yes. Global debut of the new Hyundai Carlino Styx SUV will take place in April this year, at 2019 New York Auto Show, reveals Car and Bike. With Hyundai global cars, it has been usually the case that their product is launched in India, before its global showcase. Happened with new i20, and with new Grand i10.
The same is expected to happen with Hyundai Carlino Styx. But, due to production constraints, India launch of Styx might not happen before May. But, bookings could start at authorized dealerships by the first week of April 2019.
Hyundai Carlino Styx will be powered by a new range of petrol and diesel engines – the most powerful to be offered by Hyundai India in the segment. The 1.5 liter diesel engine will deliver about 125 hp while turbo 1.2 liter petrol will deliver 120 hp. Both manual as well automatic options will be on offer. Only FWD will be on offer. No AWD will be available.
Features of new Hyundai Styx include projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillights, 16 inch machine cut alloys, leather seats, soft touch dashboard and door panels, touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, 6 airbags, sunroof, ABS with EBD, lane assist, start / stop, keyless entry, etc. More details will be revealed in coming weeks. Expect price to be in Rs 7-11 lakhs range.
