Hyundai Carlino SUV is a smaller Creta in size – Spied inside out

Showcased in concept format at the 2016 Auto Expo, the new Hyundai Carlino SUV is set for launch in India next year. The small SUV has been spied once again, this time in a parking lot. Latest spy shots reveal some of its exterior and interior features.

Squarely aimed to take on the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon and soon to be launched Mahindra XUV300, the new Hyundai Carlino, though based on the Creta, will be a sub 4 meter SUV.

It will be seen with a distinctive Hyundai signature hexagonal grille, low set projector headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lamps, a silver skid plate and secondary air dam. It will also receive flared wheel arches, alloy wheels and roof rails.

In compliance with new Government regulations, the Hyundai Carlino will come in with dual front airbags, ESP, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors and speed alert indicator as standard fitments across all variants.

Interiors seem to have borrowed inspiration from the Creta. Its interiors could receive similar instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system as seen on the i20. The interiors can be seen done in all black, giving a sporty stance of the SUV. Rear passenger legroom seems decent, so does the headroom. Seating is for five adults.

The new Hyundai Carlino will be powered by a 1.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine which also powers the i20 in markets abroad. This engine delivers 120 bhp power and 190 Nm torque. It also gets a diesel offering with the 1.5 liter engine capable of 115 bhp power and 250 Nm torque. Both engines get mated to a 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic transmission.

While as on date, the small SUV is known by the name of Carlino, its production spec model could have a different name. Considering its target segment, prices are slated to start from Rs 7 lakhs.
