Hyundai Creta will make its global launch in India today. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for Hyundai India, which will see them enter the growing segment of compact SUVs.Hyundai Creta is based on the ix25 which was launched in China last year.
Hyundai Creta will be offered in six trim levels- Base, S, S+, SX, SX+ and SX(O). To be offered in a choice of three engine options, and two transmission options, the new Creta brochure has already been officially revealed. What we await, are the mileage claims and variant wise pricing.
To be offered in in 7 exterior colours of Sleek Silver, Pearl Beige, Star Dust, Polar White, Red Passion, Phantom Black and Mystic Blue, the Creta measures 4270mm in length, 1780mm in width, 1630mm in height and 2590mm wheelbase.

The two diesel and one petrol engine options on offer are 1.6 liter U2 CRDi diesel and 1.4 liter U2 CRDi diesel along with a 1.6 liter Dual VTVT petrol engine. The 1.4 liter diesel offers 90 PS power while the 1.6 diesel is capable of 128 PS and the 1.6 petrol offers 123 PS power. While all engines are mated to a 6 speed manual transmission as standard the SX+ 1.6 liter diesel will be the only variant to receive an automatic transmission. This will be in the form of a 6 speed dual clutch gearbox.
Once launched, Hyundai Creta will compete against the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and upcoming Maruti S-Cross. Hyundai aims to sell 5,000 units of Creta every month.
