When Hyundai India launched the new generation i20 as the Elite i20 in 2014, they did not offer a six airbag variant like the one in old generation. All variants of new Elite i20 came with front dual airbags. With focus on safety on the rise, Hyundai India has silently introduced a six airbag variant in the Elite i20 line-up.
Hyundai Elite i20 Asta (O) trim has been re-introduced with a few added safety features. It gets new side and curtain airbags taking total count to 6 airbags. Pricing stands at INR 7,75,828 for the petrol trim going upto INR 8,99,992 lakhs for its diesel counterpart.
Apart from this, Hyundai will soon be adding an automatic transmission option to the 1.4 liter petrol variant on the Magna trim only. This new Hyundai Elite i20 automatic will be launched in the next few days.
Hyundai’s 1.4 liter Dual VTVT four cylinder petrol engine is capable of 98 bhp power at 6,000 rpm and 132 Nm torque at 4,000 rpm. It is the same engine powering new Verna base variant. To be offered with Magna trim, it will be missing out on features like ABS, reverse parking sensors, fog lamps, projector headlights, DRLs, and smart key. Elite i20 AT will compete with the likes of Ford Figo 1.5 AT, VW Polo 1.2 GT, Baleno AT and Honda Jazz CVT.
Hyudnai Elite i20 top end Asta (O) will continue to be offered with 7” Audio Video navigation system, projector headlamps with cornering facility and 60:40 split rear seating.
One of the best selling cars in the segment, Hyundai registers sales of about 10,000 units every month of the new Elite i20. With the addition of these new features and a variant, Hyundai India can expect improved sales during the upcoming festive season.
