Priced in the range of Rs 5.30 lakhs to Rs 6.93 lakhs for the petrol variant and Rs 6.41 lakhs to 8.05 lakhs for the diesel variant (ex-showroom, New Delhi); the new Hyundai Elite i20 sales have crossed 1 lakh mark in India.
Winning a total of 25 prestigious awards, including 2015 Indian Car of the Year, the success of new generation Hyundai i20 owes to its exceptional design, aggressive price tag and efficient engines – petrol mileage claim 18.60 kmpl, diesel claims 22.54 kmpl.
Most of the buyers who have bought the new i20 have stated that it was the design which attracted them towards the new i20.
The huge demand for i20 in the domestic market resulted in Hyundai India sacrificing on exports of the car to Europe. The new Hyundai i20 for Europe is now manufactured in Hyundai Turkey plant.
In spite of a stellar sales performance, averaging over 9,090 cars a month, Hyundai India had expected an even better performance – of over 15,000 units a month from i20. With the launch of new i20 Active earlier this year on March, the average sales of i20 have crossed the 12k mark in the last few months.
Speaking of their latest achievement, Mr. B S Seo, MD & CEO, HMIL has thanked the entire Hyundai India team, media, and their customers. But, this is just the beginning of more success to come. This year, Hyundai India aims to cross the overall 6 million production (4 million domestic and 2 million export) since their arrival in India in 1998.
Helping them achieve this target will be their new compact SUV, Creta – scheduled for launch on 21st July 2015.
