Hyundai Motors India is recalling 7,657 units of its Eon, theur entry level hatchback. The affected units were produced from 1st to 31st January 2015. This is a voluntary recall and will involve no cost to customer as per a statement issued by Hyundai Motor India.
The company will be notifying customers in a phased manner for inspection of clutch cable which is affecting the battery cable and owners are being requested to contact their nearest authorized Hyundai dealers. During inspection, if the company finds the clutch cable affecting performance of the battery cable, the same will be replaced for free.
Earlier in 2014, Hyundai Motors had also recalled 2,437 units of the Santa Fe SUV to replace a faulty stop lamp switch. These recalls are a part of the auto industry body SIAM voluntary vehicle recall policy for safety related issues in July 2012.
The Hyundai Eon entry level hatchback sports the South Korean automaker’s Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy. It is among one of the best in class models and competes with the Renault Kwid and Maruti Suzuki Alto. The company is currently working on a facelift version of the Eon which could make its debut sometime in 2017.
