Hyundai India has augmented its Grand i10 and Xcent lineup by introducing CNG kits. The prices are not announced yet but orders can be placed at dealerships in the regions where CNG is available.
Likely to be a dealer-level fitment, the CNG kits benefit from the Dual ECU Dynamic Sequential Technology (DEDST) which employs dedicated fuel injectors for the greener fuel. This helps achieve optimum combustion thereby minimizing the power drop. The CNG kits are covered under a warranty of 2 years and unlimited km. The CNG tank is placed in the boot.
The 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder petrol engine has been retained. The motor is capable of putting out 83 PS and 114 Nm of torque while running on petrol. Expect a marginal drop in the output in CNG mode. The motor is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Hyundai Grand i10 CNG and Xcent CNG are aimed at covering a wider audience base and taking advantage of the festive season. It’s to be noted that the Grand i10 is already available in an LPG variant.
Hyundai is looking at an internal record breaking sales volume this fiscal, all thanks to the super successful Creta compact crossover. The company is running at its maximum capacity utilization limit.
