At an event in Delhi today, Hyundai India launched the new Grand i10 NIOS. It is the 3rd generation of what the world knows as i10. In India, it is known as the Grand i10, and now with the 3rd gen, it is known as the Grand i10 NIOS. Hyundai says that the term NIOS means ‘more’, in Irish language.
Launch of Grand i10 NIOS does not mean that Hyundai will stop selling the regular Grand i10. Instead, Hyundai will continue selling the existing Grand i10, but only in petrol engine option. Grand i10 NIOS will be offered in both petrol as well as diesel engine option. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.2 liter BS6 engine while the diesel is a BS4 1.2 liter unit.
Petrol engine delivers 83 PS and 114 Nm via MT as well as AMT. Mileage for MT is 20.7 kmpl and that for AMT is 20.5 kmpl. Diesel engine delivers 75 PS and 190 Nm. Mileage claimed is 26.2 kmpl for MT and 26.2 kmpl for AMT. Below are the detailed prices as per variants.

From the outside, the NIOS looks sportier and more upmarket than the current model. The top-end Asta variants get 15-inch machine cut dual tone alloys which add to the dynamism of the overall stance, even though the overall profile hasn’t changed much. Other major change on the exteriors apart from the cascading front grille is the NIOS badging on the rear, which is similar to the one seen on the Venue.
Technically, the Grand i10 NIOS is different than its predecessor as it is based upon an all new platform. This has also translated into more space on the inside and customers get additional room for themselves. Dimensions of the Grand i10 stands at 3765 mm x 1660 mm x 1520 mm (L x W x H). It has a wheelbase of 2425 mm. In comparison, the new Grand i10 NIOS stands at 3,805 x 1,680 x 1,520 mm (L x W x H). Wheelbase too has increased to 2450 mm.
As far as features are concerned, there are a lot of upgrades on the inside. Seats are now more comfortable, there are AC vents for the rear passengers, a 7″ touchscreen infotainment unit which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a new steering unit and all new instrument cluster. It also has certain segment-first features like wireless charging. Hyundai is known to bring in segment first technologies in its products, we have seen the same with ventilated seats in Verna and the connected car technology bit in the Venue.
The interior of the All New GRAND i10 NIOS is spacious, Comfortable and upmarket echoing the stylish tone set by the exterior with flair of premiumness. The driver space of the All New GRAND i10 NIOS is the most comfortable and commanding place to be in. The rear suspension uses Coupled Torsion Beam Axle with vertical shock absorber that minimizes shock rebound providing a comfortable and stable ride. The advanced aerodynamics combined with Strong body structure and extensive use of sound absorbing materials ensures superior NVH isolation for a quiet and pleasant driving experience.
