Hyundai’s upcoming ix25 Crossover and i20 Cross decorated-SUV are expected to follow the success path of Indian Car of The Year (ICOTY) 2015 Hyundai Elite i20 this year. Hyundai Motor India recorded highest ever sales in the company’s Indian history last year, clocking 4,10,000 sales.
The second to Maruti South Korean company is expecting further increase in market share with the launches of ix25 and i20 Cross, given the warm public reception of both cars already. By 2016, HMIL targets over half a million sales milestone, with help from an all-new MPV launch in the same year.
To achieve their sales goal, Hyundai will price ix25 and i20 Cross competitively, especially to the forthcoming Maruti Suzuki Crossovers that will try to overpower the aforementioned. Hence, the cars will be manufactured with around 90 percent local content (as confirmed by the firm). Production will take place at Hyundai’s lone Chennai plant where there is enough capacity as per the company. However, since the i20 maker is keen on taking on Maruti Suzuki, it is mulling over setting up a new manufacturing plant in Rajasthan.
