Hyundai i20 Cross is the South Korean automaker’s chip to compete with Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Volkswagen Cross Polo. Much like the existing trio, i20 Cross will also feature all around lower-body cladding in bare-black polymer finish, with some changes in front and rear bumper. It could ride on 16 inch alloy wheels like the top spec version of Elite i20. Then to round-off the package, i20 Cross will get roof rails that can fit luggage rack or bicycle rack. Elite i20 has 170 mm ground clearance, not clear whether the pseudo-crossover variant will have increased height.
Hyundai i20 Cross will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. According to Autocar, engines currently used in the hatchback will be carried over to the Cross model but with bump in power figures. Report also says there are chances of automatic transmission making way into the cross trim, but will launch only at a later stage.
