New Hyundai i20 would be completely different from current model. Front and rear fascia would more chic; headlamps, grille and bumpers will be reshaped. Tail lamp assembly would be boomerang shaped, partially overlapping new stylish facade of rear hatch door.
Interiors get revamped dashboard, new black centre console replacing silver finished one in current i20, new 3 spoke steering wheel with integrated multi-function controls and traditional gear shift arrangement with reverse gear positioned at right bottom (below 5th).
Second generation i20 will come with a bundle of segment-first features including rear disc brakes, LED tail lamps, etc. Complete list of features is expected to be disclosed during possible unveil at 2014 Paris Motor Show. The sub-4 metre premium hatchback has been spotted testing frequently even outside India. Recent test locations include Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore.
Power plants would more likely be carried on from current i20 on sale. A 1.2 litre 4 cylinder Kappa engine and a 1.4 litre petrol motor would be coupled to auto or manual transmission. A 1.4 litre diesel mill would add to list of variants to stand up against with Maruti Swift facelift, Volkswagen Polo facelift and Fiat Punto facelift.
