The Hyundai i30 N hot hatchback has been teased in a video. The performance car’s exhaust note clearly raises the bar for all other pocket rockets.
The South Korean automaker debuted its N performance brand at last year’s Frankfurt Motor show by unveiling the N 2025 Vision GT concept race car and Veloster-based RM16 N concept hatchback. The i30 N appears to be the first road-legal car to be launched by Hyundai’s performance division.
The video shows a camouflaged prototype going around a circuit. The video emphasis on the hatchback’s exhaust note which has all the right elements – a bass-rich growl with crackling sounds during gear shifts.
The Hyundai i30 N which is likely to make its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show 2016 in October would receive a high-performance engine, uprated suspension, braking and aerodynamic packages. We can also expect significant weight saving measures (carbon fibre and aluminium components could be used).
The N brand will be extended to more Hyundai models in the due course. The Hyundai i20 N is another viable candidate that could be launched at a later stage. Hyundai’s N brand will compete with VW’s GTi and Renault’s RS performance derivatives. The brand will eventually make it to India.
