Hyundai India is taking every possible effort to ensure the safety and health of their employees during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has issued orders to restart automobile production after a near two-month lockdown to fight the spread of the coronavirus, there are certain health and safety precautions to be adhered to. Automobile manufacturers are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the health and fitness of their employees.
Hyundai Motor India is among the many auto companies who have been given the go ahead to open its doors. The company restarted operations at its plant in the outskirts of Chennai on May 8th and has released a video showing the various safety and hygiene measures being taken at the plant.
All employees are screened at regular intervals. Their temperatures are recorded with thermal devices as they board the company buses. Seating within the bus follows strict social distancing measures and employees are expected to maintain sufficient distance during boarding, seating and alighting from the buses.
Added buses have been pressed into service for this purpose. On arrival at the plant, temperatures of each employee are checked one again. Leg operated hand wash basins and hand sanitizers have been installed and the entire exterior and interior of the premises are sprayed at regular intervals.
Within the factory, social distancing is a vital requirement. Each employee is separated by an air curtain and every effort is taken to see that no mobile phones or stationery changes hands during the course of the day. In the event of a phone conversation being shared by two persons, the phone has to be put onto speaker mode for the next person to speak.
Floors, walls, work desks and all equipment are sprayed down with a medicated solution to dispel any viruses which may be present. Masks, gloves and PPE equipment are mandatory for every employee and every vehicle entering the premises is also thoroughly sanitized. Social distancing is also followed in conference rooms and during meetings with every employee sitting or standing at a safe distance from the other.
The canteen premises are also thoroughly sanitized and healthy and nutritious food is prepared for the employees. Dining tables are partitioned so that no two employees sit close to each other during meal times. Hands free door opening systems have been installed and leg operated water taps make it completely safe for every employee to use.
This screening process continues till the time the employee leaves the factory premises. Temperatures are checked at the exit and the same process of boarding the buses with social distancing follows at the end of the day.
