Country’s second largest car manufacturer, Hyundai India has registered their highest ever domestic sales for the fiscal year ending 31st March 2016.
In the period from 1st April 2015 to 31st March 2016, Hyundai sold a total of 484,324 cars in the domestic market, thereby registering 15.1% growth as compared to sales registered in the previous fiscal (420,668 units).
For the month of March 2016, the company registered sales of 41,201 units, which is a growth of 4.2% as against 39,525 units sold in the month of March 2015. Exports for the month stood at 10,251 units as against 10,215 units, growing at 0.4%.
The company owes this success in the domestic market to innovative new-generation cars like the Creta, i20 and the Grand i10. All three of which have become a huge success in the country.
Hyundai’s market share in the country too is at an all-time high of 17%. The company aims to increase this number by 1% every year in their long-term goal of becoming the largest car manufacturer in the country. As of now Maruti Suzuki is the largest car maker in India with a market share of 47%.
Launches this year from Hyundai India include two premium cars – the new Elantra and Tucson. Both of which are expected to be launched before Diwali. Apart from that, the brand is also expected to launch special editions of their Grand i10 and Xcent, which will mark the brand’s 20th anniversary in India.
