Hyundai ix25 compact crossover spied, launch by November 2015

Hyundai’s next big, literally big, offering for India is ix25 compact crossover, which was earlier expected to commence sales in mid 2015. But as per recent reports the SUV is confirmed for 2015 Diwali festive season launch.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has invested Rs. 1,000 crores on the project codenamed GCi.
Hyundai ix25 will have upcoming Maruti S-Cross, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, top end variants of Ford EcoSport, lower options of Mahindra XUV500 facelift and the like in its crosshairs. It will most likely be positioned as a premium product, above the French and the American rivals.

The compact crossover will be manufactured in HMIL’s Chennai plant and will have around 90 percent of local content. There are slight chances of Hyundai ix25 not being transformed into a sub-4 metre product. If original 4.27 metres length is retained, localisation will be the only way the South Korean automaker will be able to ensure competitive pricing. But considering Hyundai’s investment of Rs. 1,000 crores on the project, there is a possibility of Hyundai ix25 being jammed to fit in a 4 metre box and surprise the market with much lower pricing, say, on par with or a small step above Ford EcoSport.
