Hyundai ix25 spied, to get 1.6 litre engines from new Verna?
Hyundai ix25 urban SUV will launch as a strong contender against Renault Duster, upcoming Maruti S-Cross and Mahindra XUV500 to begin with, leaving the duty of taking on Ford EcoSport and smaller crossovers to Hyundai i20 Cross. At 4.27 metres length, Hyundai ix25 will be a sizeable crossover, just compact enough to navigate through everyday routes across city.
Codenamed GS, Indian version of Hyundai ix25 is expected to feature 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engines that will be seen doing duty in soon-to-launch Hyundai Verna facelift. The engines are actually the same units performing in outgoing model of Verna, but those in new version of the sedan are likely to be enhanced for better refinement, emission and mileage. Transmission options including manual and automatic are also said to find its way into ix25 along with its corresponding motors.
According to the publication, Hyundai ix25 will have a totally new name in India. The SUV is currently selling only in China. It went on sale in the largest auto market soon after it was globally unveiled at 2014 Beijing Motor Show. ix25 could be exported to Europe from India after the model is launched here.
