In July 2020, Hyundai Motor India sold 38,200 units compared to 39,010 units in July 2019

Like every other automaker in India, Hyundai has been facing troubled times. 24 March 2020 saw a nationwide lockdown being imposed in view of COVID-19 pandemic. This led to plants and showrooms’ shutdown, eventually resulting in zero sales in April 2020. However, Hyundai Motor India managed to achieve decent sales numbers thanks to products such as new Creta, Verna and Venue.

Hyundai Creta leads July 2020 sales

The South Korean company sold 38,300 units in July 2020; down by just 2.1% as against 39,010 units in July 2019. Meanwhile, this is a massive 79.2% sales increase when compared to 21,320 units in June 2020. New Hyundai Creta contributed the highest numbers or in order words, almost one-third of total sales.

The newly introduced clutch-pedal-free transmission technology called iMT (intelligent Manual Transmission) has increased the attention it usually receives. The company sold 6,734 units of Venue last month — lower than 9,585 units sold in July 2019, but up by 63% when compared to 4,129 units in June 2020.

Verna and Aura sales saw positive growth in July 2020, over both July 2019 and June 2020. However, the same could not be said for Hyundai Santro which noted 1,352 units in July 2020, or down by 75% as against 5,309 units sold in July 2019. Sales had hit 1,513 units in June 2020.

Hyundai Tucson sales were at 63 units in July 2020. Numbers have fallen by 34% as against 47 units back in July 2019. It was only recently that 2020 Hyundai Tucson facelift was launched as a rival to Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Skoda Karoq and Volkswagen T-Roc.
