Initially, the Staria Electric will be a Europe-centric product, with manufacturing set to begin soon in South Korea
As part of its electrification strategy, Hyundai has unveiled the Staria Electric MPV. While the ICE Staria is already popular in Europe, the electric version brings additional benefits such as zero tailpipe emissions, smoother rides, roomier interiors and new features. In its electric form, the Staria MPV will continue to cater to family-oriented travel and commercial operations. Let’s check out more details about the Staria Electric.
Hyundai Staria Electric – Design and features
Overall look and feel of Staria Electric is largely the same as the ICE version. Even the platform is the same, although the necessary tweaks are likely to have been made to accommodate an electric powertrain and related components. Key highlights include a full-width LED strip, a closed-off grille, front mounted charging port, vertically-stacked headlamps and a polished bumper design.

Side profile has large glass surfaces and a low beltline, which ensure an airy and welcoming atmosphere. Users also get ample natural light and a seamless view of the outside world. Staria has powered sliding doors, which ensure comfortable ingress and egress. At the rear, the electric MPV uses large vertically stacked pixel-style tail lamps. The rear bumper has the same basic design, as seen at the front.

Dimensionally, the Staria Electric is 5,255 mm long, 1,995 mm wide and 1,990 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 3,275 mm and ground clearance of 186 mm. These dimensions are largely the same as the ICE version. With these dimensions, Staria Electric is currently the largest EV from Hyundai.

Staria Electric – Performance, range, charging
Even when Staria Electric does not use a born-electric platform, it gets an advanced 800-volt high-voltage system. This is the same setup, as seen with Hyundai’s latest-gen EVs such as IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6 and IONIQ 9. Key benefits of the 800-volt system include consistent power delivery and super-fast charging.

When using an ultra-fast DC charger, the Staria Electric can achieve 10% to 80% charge in just around 20 minutes. An 11 kW AC onboard charger is also provided with the Staria Electric. Power is derived from an 84-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which connects to a 160 kW (218 PS) front-mounted electric motor.

Torque output is 350 Nm. Estimated WLTP range is up to 400 km. Staria Electric top speed is capped at 184 km/h. It has a towing capacity of 750 kg (unbraked) and up to 2,000 kg (braked). The MPV has advanced features such as 100W USB charging ports, digital key and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.

Interior highlights
Inside, the Staria Electric has a flat floor and a lounge-like atmosphere. The MPV has dual 12.3-inch displays, Hyundai’s latest Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (CCNC), wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and OTA updates. Safety kit includes a 360° camera view, surround view monitor and parking assistance. A comprehensive range of ADAS features are also available with Hyundai Staria Electric.

In Europe, buyers will be able to choose from the 7-seater Luxury and the 9-seater Wagon variants of Staria Electric. The 7-seater variant is suitable for families and leisure, offering generous legroom and headroom for all passengers. The 9-seater variant is meant for larger families and shuttle operations. It has more options to customize the interior space and offers a massive 1,303 litres of storage behind the third row.
