After much testing and teasing, Hyundai gears up to reveal its smallest SUV, called the Carlino / QXi / Styx to date. But today, Hyundai revealed the official launch name of the SUV – it is VENUE. New Hyundai Venue SUV will make India debut on 17th April. Launch will be in May 2019.
Speaking about the name, Hyundai says – “The Hyundai VENUE symbolizes a 3rd SPACE which is trendy, unique, stylish and perfect for Hyundai’s newest connected SUV.”
Hyundai Venue was last seen at the 2016 Auto Expo as the Carlino concept. Hyundai Venue compact SUV boasts of a new rectangular front grille as against a cascading design which is a regular feature on Hyundai cars. It will get a vertically stacked DRL headlamp in a split set up as seen on the Hyundai Kona and new Santa Fe, along with turn indicators and LED tail lamps. It will sit on diamond cut alloy wheels as has been seen on the model on test.
Interiors will be done up in a two tone color scheme and get premium quality where its dashboard, seating and overall theme is concerned – so as to compete against rivals such as the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 (main rival) and the Ford EcoSport.
It will get a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a sunroof in top spec variants and also get segment first features in the form of ventilated front seats. Safety features will include dual front airbags, reversing camera and rear parking sensors while top spec variant will get 7 airbags.
Hyundai Venue will be powered by 1.4 liter petrol and 1.4 liter diesel 4 cyl engine, same ones which power the Verna in India. In addition to these, it will also get a 1.0 liter turbo petrol 3 cyl engine mated to a 7 speed DSG. Expect launch price to be in the Rs 8-12 lakhs, ex-sh range.
