After Hyundai Verna facelift made its debut in Russia earlier this year, talks have been rife about its launch in India. Finally, there is some news in that direction. Hyundai India will launch new Verna facelift in the first quarter next year.
Hyundai Verna facelift is already on sale in Russia where it is sold under the name of Solaris. The new Verna will receive both cosmetic and mechanical updates with a new front facade, well designed head lamps with projector lamps, a two slat chrome grille and modifications to front bumper sporting LED daytime running lights. Rear end of the Hyundai Verna will receive LED units in brake lights, new reflectors in the bumper and black underlip while interiors remain unchanged.
Verna facelift will not see any changes where engine specifications are concerned and will continue to be powered by 1.4 liter and 1.6 liter petrol and diesel engines. These engines will either be mated to 5 or 6 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission.
The present version of Verna has been on sale since 2011. Though it received minor update earlier this year, sales numbers have constantly declined, with registering lowest monthly sales this year, in Sep. Verna used to be a top seller among the C segment sedans in the country until Honda City diesel was launched in January this year. Maruti Ciaz launch made it double blow for Hyundai Verna. Ciaz was launched earlier this month, and already has 13,000 bookings, grabbing a good number of customers in the segment. With new Verna scheduled to be launched soon, Hyundai can hope to get some of the lost market share.
