Akola IAS Collector becomes chauffeur to his driver – Here’s why
The retirement day of Chauffeur Digambar Thak, 58, was celebrated in a different way. This time round he sat in the passenger seat while his boss, the current Collector of Akoka, G Sreekanth, was the chauffeur.
This was a rather unique farewell gift to Thak who through his tenure of 35 years has driven 18 collectors to work. Sreekanth wanted the farewell to be particularly different and memorable and hence got the official vehicle decorated in red roses.
He then asked Thak, who was as usual dressed in his crisp white chauffeur’s uniform to sit in the passenger seat while he even held the door open for him. Sreekanth then proceeded to drive the car to work where an official farewell ceremony was held at the office.
Sreekant praised Thak for his years of service during which he ensured that each of the Collectors reached their place of work safely and on time while Thak was thankful and excited about the novel way in which the Collector bade him farewell.
