India-bound Toyota Rush crash tested – Scores 5 Star Rating

Toyota Rush SUV scored 84.03 out of 100 in safety tests conducted by ASEAN NCAP.

ASEAN NCAP has revealed results of crash tests conducted on the new Toyota Rush SUV. This 7 seater SUV has scored 84.03 out of 100 overall. In adult protection, it scored 43.25, in child protection it scored 21.33 while in safety assist technology it scored 19.44.

The variant of Toyota Rush that was crash tested, receives a total of 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, hill start assist and stability control. The crash test was performed at a speed of 64 kmph. Watch the same in the video below.

Sold in South East Asian markets, the Toyota Rush is powered by a 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that also powers the Yaris. This engine is capable of 105 hp power at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm torque at 4,200 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual or 4 speed torque converter automatic sending power to rear wheels.

The 5 door, 3 row, 7 seater Toyota Rush was recently presented at the Palazzo Versace Hotel in Dubai. It measures 4,435mm in length, 1,695mm in width and 1,705mm in height. It gets a 2,685mm long wheelbase and efficient ground clearance with 17” wheels. It gets ground clearance of 220mm.

Toyota claims that the Rush is comfortable and safe while interior space is best in class. Its exterior boasts of dark chrome 4 slat grille, LED headlamps and integrated LED DRLs with new fog lamps. At the rear are LED tail lamps, a tailgate mounted spoiler and shark fin antenna.

If launched in India, it will compete against rivals such as the Hyundai Creta. It will be priced from INR 10 lakhs for the base model
