India-made BMW G310R launched in Taiwan – Price Rs 5.8 lakh
The motorcycle targets young urban audience.
BMW has launched their new G310R naked motorcycle in Taiwan at a starting price of NT$269,000. This is approximately Rs 5.8 lakh, as per currency conversion rates today.
It was last year when the official website for the BMW G310R compact naked sportsbike had gone live. At that time, there were many countries listed, except India. Yes, the country where the motorcycle is being manufactured, is where it has not been launched. India launch has been postponed to 2018.
The G310R is based on a new platform which is engineered by BMW in Germany and manufactured by TVS in Indian as per the technology cooperation agreement between the two companies. Manufacturing it India gives BMW a cost advantage which is reflected in the bike’s price tags for the UK and Germany.
The most affordable Bimmer undercuts the likes of KTM Duke 390, Kawasaki Z300 and Yamaha MT-03 in the international markets. The compact street fighter complies with the EU-4 emission standards.
Power comes from a 313 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor which belts out 34 PS at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. Transmission is a 6-speed unit. The G310R is held together by a steel frame which holds the engine as a stressed member. USD front fork and rear monoshock constitute the suspension setup.
The 300 mm front and 200 mm rear discs are governed by ABS. The BMW G310R measures 2,005 mm in length, 820 mm in width, 1,080 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,374 mm. Kerb weight and top speed stand at 158.5 kg and 143 kmph respectively.
