Indian Railways has introduced Tiger Express semi-luxury train that is set to attract tourists and wildlife enthusiasts to Madhya Pradesh’s Bandhavgarh and Kanha National Parks noted for being prime tiger habitats.
The package which includes a 5 day, 6 night trip will include three Tiger Safaris while the train will also make a stop at Dhuadhar Waterfall in Bedhaghat near Jabalpur.
Tiger Express commenced its maiden journey on World Environment Day, June 5, 2016. This Roaring Journey had 24 passengers on board who took in some of the best wildlife across Madhya Pradesh. Tiger Express is set to take off on regular trips from October this year.
Tiger Express is the first semi luxury train across the tourist circuit with a dining car while it also has a separate shower cubicle. IRCTC has announced that price per ticket includes the train journey besides hotel stay, transport and all meals.
Tickets start from INR 49,500 for AC first class on single occupancy basis while double occupancy will cost INR 45,500. Triple occupancy is at INR 44,900 while INR 39,500 is for a child and an extra bed. AC 2 tier rates start from INR 33,500 to INR 43,500 while these rates are for Indian nationals. Foreigners will be charged an additional INR 4,000 for safari tours to Bhandavgarh and Kanha.
Though prices seen a bit high, it includes a 5 day, 6 night tour on this semi luxury train. It also includes accommodation in AC rooms at 3 star hotels for 3 nights of which one will be at Bhandavgarh and two at Kahna along with sightseeing, travel by AC vehicles and buffet meals along with insurance cover.
