Jaguar Land Rover India registers 45% growth for Q1 2016

Jaguar Land Rover India today announced that they have registered a staggering 45% growth in sales for the period from January 2016 to March 2016. Sales during the first three months of the year were pushed to a new level due to high demand of their newly launched cars like the Jaguar XE and Land Rover Discovery Sport.

JLR India did not reveal the exact number of cars sold during the period, but they did reveal it was over 1,000 units. JLR India is the fourth largest luxury car maker in the country, behind Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW. Mercedes Benz India posted their Q1 2016 sales at 3,622 units. Audi and BMW are yet to reveal their sales figures.

Not only in India, JLR is registering sales growth on a global level. For the month of March 2016, the company managed to sell 1 car every 2 minutes across the globe, taking their March 2016 sales to 35,444 units, marking a stark 23% increase in sales.

Globally, it was seen that Evoque was the most popular model with 6,048 units sold followed by Discovery Sport as the second best selling model with a total of 5,787 units sold. This was followed by Range Rover Sport with 2,596 units sold and Discovery of which the company sold 2,578 units.

Where Jaguar sales were concerned, the new XE registered a two-fold increase in sales with 3,142 units sold in March 2016 as against 1,719 units sold in the same month of the previous year. Overall sales of Jaguar increased 75% as compared to sales registered during the first quarter of 2015.

Besides noting increased sales in March 2016, the company expects to see outstanding performance over the coming months as well. The new Range Rover Evoque Convertible is set for launch in the summer of 2016 for 2017 model year while the Jaguar F-PACE along with new and refreshed models will also be making their presence felt.
