The luxury sedan would be assembled at JLR India’s CKD plant in Pune.

The Jaguar XE luxury sedan has been spotted in India without any camouflage ahead of its debut at the Auto Expo 2015 on February 3 (press day). The most affordable Jaguar sedan will invading the lucrative segment that is populated by the Mercedes C Class, BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Volvo S60.

Based on the iQ aluminium architecture, the XE sedan is expected to raise the benchmark for driving dynamics and performance. The baby Jaguar for the Indian market is would be powered by 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines from the Ingenium modular family. The diesel motor will pack a decent 163 PS and 380 Nm of torque. Both motors will drive the rear wheels via a 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Jaguar XE for India would be packed up the brim with upmarket features.

The XE for India would be locally assembled at JLR India’s CKD plant in Pune alongside the XF, XJ, Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque. The new Jag is estimated to have a starting price of INR 38 lakhs (ex-showroom) thereby emerging as a serious contender in the segment.

JLR India is expected to to have a very active 2016 with XE, next gen XF and F-Pace SUV in the pipeline. This year could mark the Tata-owned British brands’ most productive year yet in the burgeoning market.
