The Jawa brand that closed its doors in 1996 is back with three new and exciting offerings, Jawa, Jawa Forty Two and Jawa Perak. Brought back into the country by Mahindra owned Classic Legends, these bikes are similar in design to the retro Jawa bikes.
They are priced at Rs 1.64 lakhs for the Jawa, Rs 1.55 lakhs for the Jawa Forty Two and Rs 1.98 lakhs for Jawa Perak. All are ex-showroom prices. Bookings have opened online. Offline bookings have not opened yet, as there are no dealerships available as of today. The first set of dealers are expected to open in Dec 2018.
A miniature form of the Jawa dealerships was showcased at the launch event in a retro design and apart from the Jawa bikes, these dealers will also be stocking accessories of three kinds – merchandise, beautification of bike accessories and performance parts.
The first such dealerships is set to open on December 5, 2018. Bookings have started at a down payment of Rs 5,000 for the Jawa and Jawa Forty Two on the company’s official website while bookings for the Perak have yet to be listed.
The first dealerships will open in the city of Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune. Each of the four cities will get about 4 dealers each in the first phase. In the second phase, dealerships will be opened in Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. By mid 2019, more dealerships will be added.
Speaking about the bikes that will go on sale – Jawa and Jawa Forty Two are powered by a 293cc, four stroke, single cylinder BS VI compliant engine offering 27 bhp power and 28 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed gearbox. Both bikes will receive single channel ABS system as standard. The bikes will receive double cradle frame, telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear and will sit on 18” front and 17” rear wheels. Braking will be via 280mm front disc and 153 rear drum brakes. The motorcycles will be produced from the company plant in Pithampur near Indore.
