Jawa Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad dealers to open this month

As Jawa Motorcycles readies for Jawa and Jawa 42 deliveries to begin in April 2019, the company is using the time to bring to life more dealerships. The initial plan revolves around opening 105 dealerships. Once deliveries begin, they will progress as planned as per booking queue. This is because the company opened bookings online, and each booking was allotted a booking ID.

This is but obviously because the company began opening dealerships after launch. While we don’t have a list of dealership opening dates, a look at the company website dealer page offers a fair idea of dealership locations, and period of opening.

In fact, a few dealerships may be just a behind schedule as we discovered when following a few tweets. It would appear Google is in fact throwing up results for dealership openings, and dates for Hyderabad have been postponed a few weeks, beginning on 29th December, then 5th Jan and now 20th Jan. The initial plan has been to open dealerships at Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore before other cities.

The company is working overtime to open dealerships across the country, and will be opening in Karnal, Haryana, Chennai and its Mumbai dealerships too this month, among others. As of today, only 10 dealerships have been opened. 5 in Delhi NCR, 3 in Bangalore and 2 in Pune.

Most Jawa dealers are located in the vicinity of Royal Enfield dealers.

As more and more dealerships become operational by end of January, the company has already completed its first round of dealer appointments. There’s been no difficulty in finding dealers considering the brand enjoys strong brand recall, and its comeback has enthused many, including a high number of dealer enthusiasts.

For those who’re still waking up to wanting a Jawa bike, the wait could be somewhat long. Last month the company confirmed that its bikes are sold out till September 2019. At the time of launch in mid-Nov, the company didn’t launch ABS variants but did capitilise on that in December before they closed bookings on December 25, 2018.

Variants with rear disc brake and ABS will cost about Rs 9,000 more than the non-ABS variants. At launch, the standard Jawa and Jawa Forty Two variants with a rear-drum were priced at Rs 1.64 lakh, and Rs 1.55 lakh. Jawa and Jawa Forty Two with rear disc and dual-channel ABS are available at a price of Rs 1.73 lakh, and Rs 1.64 lakh, respectively. Deliveries for the dual-channel ABS variants will begin after June 2019.

Both Jawa and Jawa 42 are available in two variants – One with rear drum brake, and one with rear disc brake. The former one comes with front disc brake and single channel ABS while the latter gets dual disc setup with dual channel ABS. Price of Jawa single ABS is Rs 1.64 lakhs, while dual ABS costs Rs 1.73 lakhs. Jawa 42 single ABS is Rs 1.55 lakhs and dual ABS is Rs 1.64 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
